FSC objectives conference

An independent threaded E-conference on the future objectives of the Forest Stewardship Council, FSC

The conference will remain open until the start of the general assembly, november 22, 2002.

The final synthesis report is available for downloading both as Word (240 kb) as well as PDF (75 kb) document.

The focus of this conference is the current and future context within which FSC operates. It is open to all FSC members and non-member stakeholders. A compilation (results, options, synthesis) will be presented to the FSC General Assembly, November 22-26, 2002.

The central questions of the threads are:

  1. If we were inventing FSC today, knowing what we know now, what would it look like?
    Opening date: October 7, 2002

  2. How can FSC really start to deliver on its mission in the South?
    Opening date: October 10, 2002

  3. FSC started by accrediting forest and chain of custody certification, is this now too narrow a scope or is it still appropriate? Should FSC diversify into other related areas, directly or indirectly through partnerships or should we stick to our core competency of forest certification and let other organisations take on the wider related issues.
    Opening date: October 16, 2002

This website provides an organised overview of background texts, options, discussion threads and summaries. It offers the opportunity to join the electronic conference. Conference messages and background documents can only be accessed by registered participants. Before you register, please read about the conference organisation and rules for participation.
